Plot
Myndin fjallar um hina gleymnu Dóru og leit hennar að fjölskyldu sinni. Sagan gerist um sex mánuðum eftir atburðina í fyrri myndinni, Leitin að Nemó. Allt í einu byrja minningar úr æsku Dóru að rifjast upp fyrir henni og um leið að hún á fjölskyldu einhvers staðar. Þetta leiðir til þess að hún heldur ásamt Merlin og Nemó í leit að ættingjum sínum og liggur leiðin alla leið frá kóralrifinu þar sem þau eiga heima að ströndum Kaliforníu þar sem óvæntar uppgötvanir bíða.
