Myndin segir ótrúlega sögu breska landkönnuðarins Percy Fawcett, sem fór inn í Amazon frumskóginn í byrjun 20. aldarinnar og finnur þar merki um áður óþekkta menningu. Þó að hann hafi þurft að þola háð og spott vísindasamfélagsins, sem skilgreindi frumstæða ættbálka sem villimenn, þá fór Fawcett ítrekað á svæðið til að afla sönnunargagna, þar til hann hvarf með dularfullum hætti árið 1925.
