Plot

Myndin fjallar um harmleik, sem kallaður er The Mountain Meadows Massacre, sem átti sér stað í Utah í Bandaríkjunum árið 1857. Landnemar á vögnum, voru myrtir af mormónum á svæðinu, allt í allt 140 manns, menn, konur og börn. Mitt í þessu öllu er ungt par, mormóni og landnemi frá Arkansas, sem fella saman hugi í þessum erfiðu aðstæðum.
